Law 19.799
Definition
Law 19.799 governs electronic documents, electronic signatures and certification services in Chile. It distinguishes electronic and advanced electronic signatures, sets validity and evidentiary rules, and provides exceptions. The document and the act’s formal requirements determine the appropriate signature.
Practical example
Before sending a document for signature, the responsible person checks Articles 2, 3 and 5 and the procedure’s specific requirements. An electronic signature alone does not resolve every formality.
